Wong Kar-Wai calendar - May 2006

The May calendar is a mild in-joke for WKW fans. The idea behind it should be clear if you recall one of the most endearing tropes from Chungking Express. I could claim that the merging of the two films is rooted in WKW's general concern with time and memories, but it's really a simple concept that I've held in my head for some time. Admittedly, the end result is more CkEx than 2046. Looking at it now, I like the notion that perhaps every day is an expiration date for someone somewhere in the same way that May 1 was for Takeshi Kaneshiro's character.
Finding cans and stamps with compatible sizes took a little bit of time. To take the photo of the stamped cans, I referred to this helpful article on lo-fi studio lighting.
Pardon me for being a few days late. I had my reasons, but none of them would have mattered if I had started working on this piece earlier in April.
