Now in its third year, the WKW calendar project has a new theme for the monthly calendars in 2007: each artist will select a director other than WKW, and mash up his/her works and WKW's films into one image. I chose Greenaway who has been a favorite of mine for many years now. In particular I chose to draw parallels between 2046 and Prospero's Books. The characters in both films write stories in which their fictional world draws from and meshes with their real lives.

This calendar was the most labor-intensive of the three that I've done so far. In the process I learned a bit more about working in 3D. Although the final visual form seems almost obvious to me now, the idea of using spirals came to me late in the game, at 4 in the morning a couple of days ago. The vaguely religious feel of the final image (crosses and angel's wings) is unintended.
